Dog Food in Winter Season

Winter—ah, that magical season of festive cheer, steaming cups of hot cocoa, and chilly mornings making you want to stay bundled up with your pooches forever.

Sounds dreamy, right? But let’s paws for a moment and think about your furry best friend. While we might adore the winter chills, your doggo might need a little extra TLC to wag through the season happily.

No worries, though—we’re here to fetch some tail-wagging tips to keep your pooch snug, safe, and smiling all winter long!

Let’s dive in, shall we?

Gearing Up For A Pupfect Winner

Warmies For The Tummies

Here is the thing, colder weather equals two higher energy demands. But at the same time, your doggo might not be as excited about their adult dog food. Some puppers may even become pickier and moody.

That’s where a little creativity can help!

Instead of serving up their food straight from the bowl, try warming it up with a little warm water. It’s like serving them a warm, comforting hug in food form!

Not only will it make their meal more appetising, but it’ll also help them feel cosy inside and out. If you’ve got a puppy at home, this trick works wonders for them too—keeping them well-fed and happy is a win!

Winter Foodie Goals: Immunity

Winter can be tough on your dog’s immune system, so it’s essential to give them the best nutrition possible.

Opt for a puppy dog food that’s baked not extruded and packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to keep them strong enough to fuel their winter zoomies, but don’t overdo it—no one likes a bloated belly!

Keep your eye on the fine print! Looking for fresh meats and essential veggies with Vitamins E and Omega-3 fatty acids are key to maintaining immunity, strong bones and a shiny coat during those dry winter months.

Keep Them Active (But Mind the Weather)

It’s tempting to let your dog snooze all day by the heater (same, honestly), but regular exercise is still a must.

But with the chilly weather, you might need to adjust the intensity and duration of walks. Consider shorter, more frequent walks to prevent their paws from getting too cold.

You would, sometimes, want to swap outdoor adventures for indoor games. A tug-of-war or a round of “find the treat” can be just as exciting as a run in the park!

Senior dogs might have more sensitive joints or thinner coats. Show some extra love and get them a cosy dog jacket for walks.

Hydration Is Still Top Dog

During winter, dehydration can creep up because dogs don’t feel as thirsty, but their bodies still need hydration to stay in good shape. So keep their water bowl topped up with lukewarm water. And do remember to clean it regularly so the water stays fresh.

Check Up & Groom Up

Winter’s not just for cuddles—it’s also a good time for a quick health check-up. Cold weather can worsen joint issues or other health concerns in dogs. A vet visit ensures your furball is in paw-sitively great shape!

Speaking of good shape, grooming your fur friend is non-negotiable. Grooming helps maintain a healthy coat and skin, while reducing shedding.

With these tips, your pup will be living its best winter, tail wagging and all! But most importantly extra belly rubs, snuggles, good dog food and playtime will do wonders for your dog’s mood.

After all, nothing beats a warm cuddle session with your favourite furball on a cold day.
